Their quest leads them to the Resistance, a group of rebels fighting against the demonic regime. However, their flickering hope is dashed when Elijah, a member of the Resistance, betrays them, aligning himself with the Master of Mors. This treachery results in the destruction of the Resistance camp and the capture of Desti and Tate, who are taken before Amaros, the High King of Hell.

Amaros reveals Desti’s true heritage as a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel, and seeks her blood to purify his own tainted lineage and lift his curse. He subjects Desti and Tate to a series of brutal trials, exploiting their bond and pushing them to their breaking points.
